From today (Monday 17) to Saturday 22 May the iQFOiL International Games 2021 arrive in the waters of Campione del Garda with the stage organized by Univela Sailing and Canottieri Garda Salò, sponsored by the Lombardy Region.

The protagonist is the new Windsurf Foiling designated by World Sailing as the next Olympic discipline for Paris 2024. A small, agile and light board, equipped with a foil drift: a thin carbon fiber sheet that literally allows it to fly on the surface of the water. . Foil is now one of the hottest trends in contemporary sailing and has seen its definitive consecration in the last spectacular edition of the America’s Cup, won by Team New Zealand against the Italian Luna Rossa.
In the race in Campione Del Garda there will be 130 athletes from all over the world, 85 men and 45 women, with a formula that includes regattas with three different routes and modes: Course Racing (about 15 minutes), Sprint Slalom (about 5 minutes) and Marathon (about an hour), and a number of rejects of the worst results that varies according to the races held. Univela was born in Campione del Garda on 2 August 2012. The particular position of the structure allows those who use Univela Sailing to take full advantage of the optimal wind conditions that characterize Lake Garda for moments of intensive training and organization of regattas. as an ideal venue for hosting activities dedicated to the sport of sailing at the highest levels. It is therefore chosen by the Italian Sailing Federation as the headquarters in Italy of the Federal Sailing Center: Olympic Preparation Center (CPO) for the athletes of the Italian team in preparation for the Olympics and of the FIV youth teams. It is also home to the Federal Sailing Center of the Republic of San Marino Univela Sailing. For two years it has been the Italian base of the Andrew Simpson Foundation Water Sport Center, a sailing school recognized by the Royal Yachting Association (the English Sailing Federation). Since the opening of Univela, it has been the organizer and seat of the National Championship and the Moth World Championship; and then continue with numerous other Championships of other sailing classes. The center covers an area of about 10,000 square meters and is equipped with all the necessary equipment for training and practicing competitive sailing for Olympic classes and parasports.
